I want to extend a personal welcome to the First Unitarian Church of Alton. Since 1836, this church has been a progressive voice in the Bi-State region of Illinois and Missouri. We invite you to join us for our worship services, held each Sunday at 10:30 a.m. in our beautiful 100-year-old sanctuary, located at the corner of Third and Alby Streets on the bluff above the Mississippi River in downtown Alton. Our Children’s Religious Education programming begins at 10:30 as well. We especially want to welcome you if you are a newcomer to our church or to Unitarian Universalism.
We offer various Adult Religious Education activities at 9:30 on Sunday mornings. To find out more about what is happening at church this week and in our congregation in general, please visit the other links on our website. If you are searching for a spiritual home, we hope you’ll check us out and decide to become a part of our community.
The Rev. Khleber M. Van Zandt V holds Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Industrial Engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington and a Master’s of Divinity from Eden Theological Seminary. Before coming to the ministry, Khleber operated a successful construction business in the Saint Louis area for about twenty years. He was ordained to the ministry and installed as minister of the First Unitarian Church of Alton in November, 2005.
He and his wife Linda have been married for almost fifteen years and have a blended family with seven children and three grandchildren. Linda works at the Washington University School of Medicine and is also pursuing undergraduate studies at Washington University.
Khleber tries very hard to keep up with his large family. He also enjoys playing softball and playing music, and when he is not reading for work, he likes to read for pleasure.
